Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture: Originally an ancient Chinese healing art. The primary therapeutic approach involves the insertion of extremely thin needles below the skin’s surface.

Acupressure: applied pressure with fingers using the same points that are used in acupuncture.

Auricular therapy:  the ear is a micro system of the body represented in the auricle, similar to mappings used in reflexology. I often use this therapy between acupuncture treatments to enhance and aide treatment.

*Gua sha:  Involves scraping technique with a smooth edged specialized instrument. The technique releases myofascial tension creates blood and Qi (energy) flow.  Can be used for muscle aches, fevers, digestive and gynecological issues.

*Cupping:  The use of cupping therapy has been part of most cultures of the world. The treatment involves creating a suction to bring blood and Qi to the surface to create flow.  Used for muscle tension, and respiratory issue.

*Tui Na: Massage that enlists techniques that employ pressure points assisted movement of effected area, deep strokes brush, knead, roll/press, and rub muscle and meridian (meridians are channels that form a network in the body, through which qi flows). Tui na goes beyond the physical touch effect to rely on the physical expression of Qi or energy flow from the giver to the receiver for ultimate healing.

*Cranial Sacral: In cranial sacral therapy, light touch holds work within the natural flows of the body. This type of massage results in deep relaxation and encouragement of the body’s alignment and natural healing ability.

Essential Oils: Use of essential oils and liniments after acupuncture, acupressure, or other above mentioned bodywork are used to enhance treatments.

*I generally use Gua Sha, cupping, tui na or cranial sacral modalities at the end of an acupuncture treatment.

Herbs, Supplement, & Nutrition: Consultations and suggestions at time of treatment.  I prescribe patent Chinese herbs homeopathic remedies or supplements.

Flower Essence: These are gentle and powerful treasures. Flower essences are liquid plant extracts charged with the electromagnetic pattern of specific flowers, which are used by natural therapists to restore mental, emotional, and spiritual well being. I generally use these if I feel a more psyche/emotional/spirit aspect needs to be addressed with treatment. Read more about Bach Flower Remedies.
